Coming in a new release of Avaya phone firmware, Voice Initiated Dialing will now be part of the next software release (free of charge).

Voice Initiated Dialing is a feature that adds the power of natural language to the 9600 series IP telephones. The voice recognition engine is integrated with the contacts application allowing users to call specific contacts with a voice command. Dialing is as simple as saying, "Call Ken Apperson," or "Dial Ken Apperson at Home," or just "Ken Apperson." Also, expect to see VID work with German, French, Spanish and a few other languages.
